Spay~ghetti, No Balls fundraiser 2026

This year, Wags to Riche’s Spay-It-Forward fundraiser is at Selah Civic Center. February is National Spay & Neuter month and 100% of the proceeds of this event go to our Spay-It-Forward program.  This program benefits Companion Animals in our valley for Senior Citizens, Low Income, Disabled, and Active Military.

With a new record, 2025 provided over 1,000 Spay-It-Forward Vouchers in our Valley.  With your help, we will break records in 2026, too!

Our Community – Programs & Projects

In addition to Rescuing Dogs and Cats, Wags to Riches is busy In Our Community helping animals in loving homes stay with their family and providing means for Spay and Neuter procedures for those that need financial help. In 2024, through our various programs, we funded the spay/neuter of nearly 900 pets, the bulk of which were for low-income families, disabled individuals, and military members in our Valley. We’re on track to exceed that number this year. Not quite half way through 2025 and we have already funded over 500!!

Your generosity covers critical veterinary care, food, shelter, and foster placement until every pet finds a loving home. We thank you.  Below are just a few of the Programs & Projects Wags is a part of in the Yakima Valley…

Spay It Forward (SIF)

Spay or Neuter surgery carries a one-time cost that is relatively small when one considers its benefits. It’s a small price to pay for the health of your pet and the prevention of more unwanted animals.

Wags to Riches “Spay It Forward” program reduces the number of homeless and euthanized animals in our Yakima County by altering companion dogs and cats for low-income, disabled and military families.

The over 800 Spay and Neuter surgeries in 2024 is a good start but we can do more with your help.

Senior Pet Companion Program

The Donna Prime Senior Pet Companion Program is available to seniors, 62 and older, needing a bit of help with Veterinary care, vaccinations & Micro-Chips.

This program provides assistance to keep their best friend and eliminate the choice between caring for their pets or themselves. Many researchers are finding that the most serious disease for older persons is not cancer or heart disease — it’s loneliness.

Whiskers & Purrs

It is no secret that there is an incredible over-abundance of cats and kitten in the Yakima Valley and they are most likely to be dumped alongside the road, in the river, in abandoned buildings or orchards and left to starve to death.

All cats or kittens that come to Wags go into Foster homes until they are either adopted or transferred to another No-Kill entity in our state.

Fostering, in your home, is an undertaking of tremendous value and equal reward. We supply what you need to care for them, you supply the love.

Animal Rescue

These animals are often rescued from abusive or tragic circumstances and become wards of Wags to Riches. Other circumstances include Owner Surrenders and dogs that are “pulled” from the Humane Society for better social placement, if Foster homes are available.

Wags to Riches relies on Foster homes to care for our rescues locally.  We are also thankful for “Paws in Lynnwood” to help transfer rescues to other areas.  Fostering, in your home, is an undertaking of tremendous value and equal reward. We provide all the necessities for care, you provide the love.  It takes a village and we can’t help the animals without our Fosters!

We Will, We Promise Program

Have You Made a Plan?

If the time comes when you can’t take care of your pet anymore we will take your pet(s) and we will keep them safe. We will find your pet(s) a new loving home to live in. In the beginning they will go to a Foster family to help them thru the grieving process.

We will try to gather up the pieces of their heart to put it back together again.

Kids Education Programs

Our primary mission with Kids Education Program is to encourage, in children, the lifelong appreciation and the value of animals.

Respect, Responsibility and Rescue – Teaching respect for all animals and responsible behavior.

Bite-Proofing our Children – Teaching dog body-language and warning signs and what to do.

Kid’s Wall of Kindness – Paw Prints, signed by the kids,  and are placed on the Wall by those kids who promise to always be kind to animals.
