Wags To Riches Animal Rescue & Sanctuary can be found out in our community in many ways other than rescuing animals. Education is a big part of the animal rescue business and providing pet options to families that need them. Wags to Riches serves the entire Yakima Valley area, the senior citizen population, AND matches up abandoned animals with loving homes through adoption.

These community services are provided 100% by volunteers. Volunteers provide foster homes, transportation to vet appointments, assessment for proper placement, sharing education and information at events around the valley, assisting our nations Veterans that need a little bit of help now and then. If you are interested in volunteering, even a little bit of your time, please email: volunteer@wagstorichesanimalrescue.org

The 3 “Rs” of Wags, is to encourage, in children, the lifelong appreciation of the value of animals and of people’s relationships with them.  It is designed to work with teachers in meeting this program’s educational goals. The 3 “R”s are Respect, Responsibility and Rescue.

There are increasing incidents of animal abuse and the direct correlation between children who abuse animals and grow up to become abusive adults.  This has proven to affect both animals and people.  Because of the ever expanding pet population, Wags to Riches Animal Rescue has worked to develop and refine an education program.  It’s designed to teach kids to be respectful of animals, to be responsible pet owners and to understand rescue and how they can save animals too.

Project Mealtime for Pets

As part of a Grant from Legends Casino ~ Yakama Cares ~  we were able to create Project Mealtime for Pets. Senior Citizens live longer, happier, and healthier lives with a pet by their side!  Meals on Wheels is taking care of the people. Wags is taking care of the pets with the help of this grant.  Then Meals on Wheels is helping distribute pet food to the seniors in need.
